The Academy is continuing to buck the trend during an economic downturn that has seen hundreds of people lose their jobs in the country's capital in the past 6 months.
Academy Co-ordinator, Adam Dunkerely feels that the Academy's links to local business is the key to maintaining the progress made to date,
"Employers come and speak to us when they have a vacancy because they know that we will prepare people in the right way, providing valuable work experience and key skills training so that they can hit the ground running"
In the face of the recession, it is vitally important for employers to be able to trust the people they bring into their company.
The Academy continues to advocate the use of short work placement opportunities on behalf of workless city residents, providing a valuable opportunity for the employer to get to know the employee and vice versa, before an offer of employment is made.
The Academy operates in partnership with the St James centre management and although many of the jobs created in July have been within the centre itself, many others are now being created and sourced across the city by the Academy's Job brokers.
We will continue to expand the role of the Academy in the city and continue to deliver employment opportunities in the face of the downturn.
